MENA (KFSM)- When the season began, Mena set their sights on a trip to the title game and now they're here for the first time since 2009.

"This is something we talked about earlier in the year," said Head Coach Craig Bentley. "We set our number-one goal with the conference championship and we knew if we were able to get that everything else should take care of it's self and luckily we were bale to do that and we worked really hard."

Mena has been dominant offensively scoring 79 goals heading into the 4A state championship game, and 18 of those goals came from a foreign exchange student from Spain, who wants to help the Bearcats get their first-ever title.

"It's a great great experience coming here," said senior Javier Alarcon.  "Having a new team and new friends and having all this fun winning games and playing hard as we are it is something I will never forget. First year here and having a state championship that would be awesome."

Seven years ago the Bearcats came close to winning the 4A crown, but this time around they feel like they are more prepared than ever to walk away with the win.

"It's insane I have been here for four years," said senior Taylor Medlin.  I have been through every sort of team we have ever had great and really bad this team from the start we knew it was going to be a special year."

Mena will play Dardanelle Saaturday at 4:00 p.m.
