FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A man arrested on several counts of fraud was arraigned, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas announced on Tuesday (May 17).
William Jackson Moates, 49, was charged with 25 counts, consisting of money laundering, wire fraud, theft concerning a program receiving federal funds, mail fraud, bank fraud and theft or embezzlement from employee benefit plan.
The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Health and Human Services – Office of Inspector General, and the Department of Labor – Employee Benefits Security Administration.
Moates was booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center, where he was on hold for transfer for the U. S. Marshals Service.
