FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A man turned himself in to police Tuesday (May 17) following an altercation outside a Motel 6 in Fayetteville.

Stephen Rodney Rohrbach, 34, is facing charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening after he stabbed his mother’s boyfriend outside the motel just before 10:45 a.m., according to Rohrback’s arrest report.

Rohrbach, his mother and the victim were in a car together outside the Motel 6 to give Rohrbach a ride back to their apartment when the victim took offense to the way the suspect opened the car door, the report states.

Rohrbach and the victim started arguing, at which point the suspect pulled out a pocket knife and the victim grabbed Rohrback by the throat, according to the arrest report. That’s when Rohrbach stabbed the victim in the neck twice, the report states.

All three then got into the car and drove the victim to Washington Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released while Rohrbach left before officers arrived, according to the report.

At around 2 p.m., Rohrbach’s grandmother brought him to the police station to turn himself in, the report states. Rohrbach admitted to stabbing the victim, but said he was afraid for himself, according to the report.
