Bentonville Looks To Dethrone Three-Time Champions

Lady Tigers set to face North Little Rock in championship on Friday

BENTONVILLE (KFSM) - Teams don't always get a shot at payback but the Bentonville softball team is getting just that. It just happens to be two years later.

The Lady Tigers will try to knock off the three-time defending 7A softball champion North Little Rock in the finals at Bogle Park on Friday.

Bentonville (26-1) has rolled through their competition and they're out to treat Friday's game like any other.

"We're really proud our kids have responded," Bentonville coach Kent Early said. "Every time there's been a challenge so far this year, they have responded and come out on top. We're just hoping we can continue a little bit of luck because honestly in the state tournament you've got to have some luck."

North Little Rock hasn't been as dominant as in years past but are a perfect 4-0 against the 7A-West this season.

"Stay calm and play ball like we know how to play and just make the routine plays and just go out and play our hardest," Bentonville pitcher Madison Prough said.

First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
