FORT SMITH (KFSM)-- To celebrate National Train Day, the Frisco Station in Fort Smith held a train day of its own.

Tours of the station, train rides, and electronic train sets were all available for visitors to experience.

This is the second annual Train Day and for the president of the Razorback Traction Company, he said the joy the trains bring to the kids is what encourages him to keep building his train sets.

"It's a lot of fun. But, what I really get a kick out of is when the kids come in and take a look at it and their eyes light up. Wow, that's nice," Mitch Marmel said.

During the train rides to the Arkansas River Bridge, passengers were taught the history of the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad along with railroad safety tips.

While touring the station, visitors could also learn about the history of train service to Fort Smith.

Train Day organizers plan on making this event even bigger next year.

The Arkansas and Missouri Railroad has events year round. You can find a schedule for those events on their website.
