FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Fayetteville summers have been set to tune — at least in name.
An Saturday Night Live skit on Saturday (May 21) featured the majority of the SNL cast as the southern rock band “The Harkin Brothers,” who sing “Summertime in Fayetteville” to a clueless audience.
Host Fred Armisen starts off the performance by asking “Who here’s from Fayetteville, Arkansas?”
Whether the lyrics capture a true Fayetteville summer experience is up to individual interpretation.
The lyrics are listed below:
Frogs are jumping up onto the lily pads
I’m eating plates of honey ham all day
Commuting via tire into a swimming hole
Arkansas is calling out my name
Hot, hot summertime
Nothing like a nap in a burned out pickup truck
Fireflies fly right into my mouth
Running barefoot on a pile of rocks and stones
Then I see Henrietta
Henrietta
Get up here
Summertime in Fayetteville
Hot hot summertime
Get up here
