ROLAND (KFSM) -- Roland police identified the victim and suspect in a deadly shooting that took place early Sunday morning (May 22).

Chase Carver, 19, of Roland was shot and killed by Alan Willis, 64, following an altercation at a home on Roland Estates Lane, according to police.

Investigators originally thought Willis was Carver's biological grandfather, but they are not related, police said. However, the two men lived in the same home.

Police have conducted interviews and the results will be turned over to the district attorney's office to determine if charges will be filed on Willis, according to police.

"The victim in this shooting was the suspect in the previous domestic," said a Roland Police officer. "Carver had left the residence before the officer showed up, and upon returning to the residence after the officer had already left another altercation broke out."

Willis has not been booked into jail, and told 5NEWS that he was distraught and shaken up with what happened. He also said that he was not biologically related to Carver, but loved him like a grandson.

Neighbors close to the family said that Willis had mentioned to them before the incident he was afraid of Carver. They told 5NEWS there were several times when Carver grew violent, even breaking windows in the house.

A friend of Carver said, "Chase was a great person. He just had his issues like everyone else."

Police said they had been called out to the home just hours before the shooting after getting reports of a domestic violence situation.
