SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — A 3-year-old girl was hit and killed after a vehicle backed over her Tuesday evening (May 24).
According to a report from the Arkansas State Police, a vehicle had backed out of a residence driveway off the 100 block of Willella Place, while the child was playing in the front yard.
The Dodge Journey backed over the child; she was pronounced dead later that evening.
Springdale Police said the driver is not expected to be issued a citation or arrested. Police also said that drug or alcohol use is not believed to be a factor.
“It appears to be a tragic accident,” police stated.
