FORT SMITH (KFSM)-  A battle between entertainment and education broke out on Saturday (May 28) as the Lawbreakers and Peacemakers historical group did 1800's reenactments.

An audience gathered in downtown Fort Smith to watch the historic reenactments. The performance was a battle scene full of gunfights. "We have 80 historical skits that come from directly from the court record," said Joe Miller, President of the Lawbreakers and Peacemakers.

The squad of lawbreakers and the peacemakers come from around the area and travel to do hundreds of skits.

"It's important to understand that we are not shooting at each other," said Miller. He adds, "it's off to the side."

According to Miller," This is the best way for someone to learn history."

Gunfights and reenactments will continue on Sunday (May 29) at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Fort Smith across from Judge Parker's gallows.
