INDIANAPOLIS (KFSM)- Sunday rookie Alexander Rossi won the the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For the 24-year-old this was his first career IndyCar series win, and his first Indy 500.

In this case the risk was worth the reward for the California native. Rossi and his team rolled the dice playing the fuel mileage game. Rossi was able to stretch the fuel just long enough to cross the finish line, running out shortly after.

Rossi is the first rookie to win since Helio Castroneves back in 2001.
