FORT SMITH (KFSM) - It's time to get your cowboy hats and boots back out as the Old Fort Days Rodeo kicks off in Fort Smith on Monday (May 30). It's the 83rd year for the event.
The rodeo parade kicked off earlier in the morning along Garrison Avenue. Hundreds of people gathered to watch the horses pull the wagons down the street and to say howdy to the cowboys and cowgirls participating in this year's rodeo. One highlight of the parade was the shoot out scene.
Looking forward to later today, organizers said they expect a large crowd to show up for the largest grand entry. The rodeo will also feature a special salute to local veterans in honor of the Memorial Day holiday.
All the festivities will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Kay Rodgers Park on Monday.
The Super Kids Rodeo for children with special needs will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday (June 2).
Tickets are $15 at the gate, but only $12 if purchased online at http://www.oldfortdaysrodeo.com/
Do keep in mind that ticket prices and events change throughout the week.
The final night of the rodeo is on Saturday.
