FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Walmart Shareholders week has arrived, bringing employees and shareholders from all over the world to Northwest Arkansas for the annual meeting.

Keeping everyone safe is one of the main priorities. Officers have been assigned to specific locations to make sure that associates move safely from Point A to Point B.

Anyone driving through the area should watch out for Meadow Street and LeRoy Pond Drive, which will be crowded with pedestrians.

Patrol staff will be stationed there, as well as some University of Arkansas Police Department officers, who are called to work special events.

Officials said none of the streets will be closed to traffic. However, if you live or drive around the University of Arkansas campus on your normal commute, you might want to try to avoid the area as much as possible.

Public parking is available in Lot 44, 46 and 56.

Matt Mills, UAPD captain,  said while it's his team's job to protect, they still strive to welcome the shareholders into a fun and safe environment.

"This is the first time a lot of these, especially the international associates, will ever get out of their country and into the United States," said Mills. "So we have a great time interacting with them while maintaining the presence of security and safety as well."

When the meeting takes place on Friday (June 3) traffic is expected to be tighter than normal with more security in the area, similar to how it is during a Razorback Game.
