FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- More than 14,000 Walmart shareholders and associates are in Northwest Arkansas this week for the annual shareholders' meeting.

On Wednesday (June 1) thousands of Walmart associates got to enjoy the Walmart associates expo, which was a large carnival at the Washington County fairgrounds. Participants got to enjoy live music, food, games and get a sneak peek at new technologies.

Kendra Baker, who works at a Walmart in Skiatook, Oklahoma, said she's been waiting nine years to come to this week's event.

“The meeting this morning with the U.S. associates  was a blast...they had Steve Harvey and he was hilarious,” Baker said. "I got to see Judith McKenna for the first time and Greg Foran and all of them -- that was really neat to hear all the new things coming and changes this year...it was really exciting."

Earnestine Cameron from Brookhaven, Mississippi said it's been great learning how Walmart invests in its employees.

“The most exciting thing I've done so far is met new people -- a lot from different countries -- and we've swapped pins," Cameron said. "The most exciting part is getting to meet...Steve Harvey in person and playing 'Family Feud' like it's really live."

Matt Kennedy, who works with Walmart global e-commerce, said the idea is to bring everyone together to remind them how the company became what it is today.

“We all kind of get stuck in our jobs and various roles and responsibilities, but it's great to see all these people coming together from the various disciplines within the Walmart organization,” Kennedy said. "To come together and see exactly what it means to be successful."

The Walmart associate expo will be going on until Friday afternoon (June 3) so that all of the associates who are in Northwest Arkansas will get to experience the event.

Three Doors Down and Daughtry will also be performing Wednesday (June 1) at Bud Walton Arena for shareholders and associates.
