(KFSM) – Local libraries in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley are ushering in summer with annual reading programs.

Fort Smith Public Library is also welcoming readers to all of its locations through July 31 for the On Your Mark, Get Set… READ! summer program.

The Fayetteville Public Library launched its Super Saturday program on Saturday (June 4), which serves as a way to get kids interested in reading.

“We have an independent reading program where they just track their reading progress,” said Lolly Greenwood, director of Youth and Outreach at the Fayetteville Public Library. “We don’t care what they are reading as long as someone is reading to them or they are reading independently but there is an incentive because there’s really cool prizes for the readers that really [gives them incentives] to read more.”

You can contact the library where you live to see if it offers a summer reading program by clicking here.
