GREENWOOD (KFSM) -- Construction on the $11.3 million Freshman Center in Greenwood is right on schedule according to crews.

The new building on the inside and the outside is almost done and will soon be ready for students to step inside. All crews have left to do are the final touches. On the inside, a final coat of paint and waxing the floors are on the agenda. On the outside, crews have to pour the concrete for the parking lot, which will expand from Daisy Street to the Freshman Center.

Also, crews plan on doing plenty of landscaping to spruce up the outside of the new building.

According to school officials, the new building will hold 16 classrooms, four lab settings, two science labs and an art room within the 53,000 square foot facility.

Crews said they've been working hard rain or shine to make sure everything is complete so the students can enjoy a nice building. "It's a nice building and we're glad to be part of it," said Project Superintendent Willard Horton.

Just in time for school to kick off in the fall, crews said they plan to be done with everything by early August. The new Freshman Center will be able to hold more than 400 students.

A millage increase was approved last year by voters to help fund the project. The state of Arkansas also gave the school a $2 million grant.
