Pilot, Passenger Identified In Deadly Arkansas Plane Crash

MENA (KFSM) — One  man was killed and anther injured when a small plane crashed in Jefferson County on Wednesday night (June 8).

Phillip Sloan, 66, of Mena, was killed in the crash, according to an Arkansas State Police press release.

Ross Goodner, 19, of Scott County, was injured in the crash and was taken to a Pine Bluff hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.

Sloan was piloting the small, single-engine plane when it crashed in a wooded area the southwest part of the county, near the Grant County line around 5 p.m., the release states. Sloan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
