Former Razorback and current Dallas Cowboys’ running back Darren McFadden is expected to be out the next two months after undergoing surgery to repair a broken elbow he suffered in an accident at his home.

McFadden may not be ready for the Cowboys’ season opener against the Giants on Sept. 11.

“I don’t want to put too much of a timetable on it,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “They said the surgery went well, and the overarching thing was a couple months. So we’ll see how he responds to everything, but we do anticipate him being back at some point in training camp and possibly being able to play in the opener.”

McFadden ran for 1,089 yards and added 328 yards receiving in 2015 with the Cowboys and overtook the starting job early in the season. Dallas drafted Ezekiel Elliot, a running back from Ohio State, with the No. 4 pick in the NFL Draft earlier this spring.

“We do anticipate seeing him at some point in training camp,” Garrett said.
