VIAN (KFSM) – After a decade  long run that saw the Wolverines become a dominant 2A program in the state of Oklahoma, head football coach Brandon Tyler is resigning.

Tyler, who went 128-25 in 12 seasons at Vian, will become an assistant at Van Buren for coach Greg Werner.

“It was just a case where I needed a break from the head coaching aspect of it to spend more time with my family,” Tyler said. “Not going to be as stressed out when I get home and the kids I know will love that.”

Vian athletic director John Brockman said the school has no comment until the official resignation has been made.

“(Van Buren coach) Greg (Werner) is a great guy to work for and he is giving me an opportunity,” Tyler said. “I’ve been blessed with a great coaching staff, great administration and a great school but it was time to try something else and try something different.”

Tyler won 10 games or more in eight of his 12 seasons and reached the state finals in 2006. Vian also reached the semifinals in 2005, 2012 and 2013 and won eight district titles between 2004-2015.
