CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) -- A 37-year-old man fell off a cliff while brush hogging in Crawford County on Tuesday (June 28).
The man, Jason Smith, fell about 50 feet from Sand Point Terrace in the northern part of the county. A Crawford County deputy said Smith is still alive but he is banged up.
"He's got a gash up here on his head. The collarbone, I think, is broke and a possible broken rib," said Frank Moore, Smith's father-in-law.
Rescue crews brought him up from the cliff around 1:30 p.m. in the back of an SUV. He was then airlifted to Washington Regional Medical Center.
"They were able to go ahead and walk the victim out . We had the assistance of a 4-wheel-drive to get him up the hill," said Crawford County sheriff Ron Brown.
His family said the Smith was brush hogging near a cliff when they believe the Bobcat he was driving malfunctioned.
"He couldn't control it when it died. It didn't have breaks or nothing then," Moore said.
Emergency responders said Smith is in serious condition.
