BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- A labor of love is happening at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, giving visitors a new museum entrance.

However, in addition to the new entrance, there will also be a new elevator tower that will open up to an underused green space.

This new entrance will provide more access to nature and to the north art trails for the thousands of people who visit the museum every year.

"Currently we have two entrances," said Beth Bobbit, public relations manager at Crystal Bridges. "Two ways of getting into the museum: the south entrance and the main lobby entrance. So this provides a whole new view of the museum. New sculptures, the possibilities are really endless of what we could do in this space."

Once completed, the new north elevator will take visitors to the second level where the museum galleries are located. Then the third level will provide access to the Dogwood and Rock Ledge trails. For bikers, it will be a whole new way to get onto the trail system.

Since work has just started the goal is to have everything complete and open by spring of 2017.
