Report: Father, Mother, Daughter Hit With Car While Lighting Fireworks

SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — A man was facing second-degree battery and leaving the scene of an injury accident charges after he hit a father, mother and their daughter with his car Monday (July 4).

Around 10:30 p.m., Lonnie Shrum, 64, was driving his pickup truck east on Hart Avenue toward his driveway on Crutcher Street when he hit a man and his 10-year-old daughter, who were trying to light fireworks in the roadway, according to his arrest report.

After hitting them, Shrum left the scene of the accident and while doing so, he hit the wife and mother of the two victims, the report states.

The husband, wife and child were taken to Washington Regional Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the report.

Two of the victims had minor injuries and one of them had possible broken bones and torn ligaments, the report states.

Shrum is being held at the Washington County Detention Center.
