BELLA VISTA (KFSM) -- When emergency responders are called out to a scene, every second matters. A new fire station opened in Bella Vista today, hopefully improving response times in the area.

Bella Vista fire chief Stephen Sims said the department realized there was a critical gap in response times between their central fire station and Highlands fire station out on the far west side of the city. The new fire station, number 4, will help bridge that gap.

"It will also serve as the city's secondary emergency operations response or if there's  an emergency response that requires an operations center to be set up in the highlands area, then it will be used for that as well," said Chief Stephen Sims of the Bella Vista Fire Department.

This station will serve as the city's secondary emergency operations response. This station is different from the other three stations in the city because it has a wash bay attached to the station, so the trucks can be cleaned on site.
