BENTONVILLE (KFSM) — Bentonville Public Schools has a new superintendent, according to District Director of Communications Paul Stolt.
In a release, Stolt said Dr. Debbie Jones will succeed former superintendent Michael Poore as the district’s leader. Jones was serving as Interim Superintendent since Poore’s departure for the Little Rock School District in June.
Jones was one of 711 candidates from 46 states reviewed for the position. 53 applicants were surveyed by an independent firm, and nine candidates were interviewed.
Stolt said Jones was approved unanimously by the Bentonville Board of Education, and will assume role as superintendent on Tuesday (July 12.)
“It is an honor to serve the Bentonville School District.” Jones said. “I am honored that the School Board had confidence in my ability to do the job after such an extensive search. I’ve been given time to get to know the administrators and we work together as a team to continuously improve this exceptional school district. I plan to be here a long time.”
Jones’ predecessor, Poore, said the selection was a “great choice” by the Bentonville Board of Education.
