VAN BUREN (KFSM) — A Van Buren food establishment is recalling 5,850 pounds of frozen chicken that may be contaminated with E. coli.

Simmons Prepared Food, Inc. recalled frozen, heat-treated, not-ready-to-eat chicken tenderloin items that were produced on Jan. 25, 2016, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The recalled products were made with General Mills flour, which was also recalled due to potential E. coli contamination.

The FSIS said they were concerned that the frozen food might already be in consumer’s freezers, so they are urging consumers to return the items to either return the items where they were purchased or throw them away.

Information on the General Mills’ flour recall can be found here.
