FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — Former Arkansas running back and fifth-round draft pick Jonathan Williams, 22, was arrested Thursday (July 14) in Fayetteville on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to an arrest report from Fayetteville police.

An officer was called to the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Futrall Drive around 2 a.m. for a report of an intoxicated driver, the report states. The officer followed the vehicle and noticed it was weaving in its own lane, so he pulled the driver over, according to the report.

The driver, identified as Williams, said he was taking his passenger to her house. The officer noted Williams had red, watery eyes and slurred speech, the report states. Williams then told the officer he had one beer around 7 p.m., the report states.

The officer had Williams perform a standard sobriety test and determined he was intoxicated, according to the report. When asked to take a breath test, Williams said he had to call his agent first, the report states.

Williams was taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he declined to take a breath test because his agent advised against it, according to the report.

Williams is facing misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and violation of the implied consent law, jail records show. He bonded out on $765 bail at around 5:30 a.m. after he was booked into the jail around 3:20 a.m., according to jail records.

Williams had been a fifth-round draft pick for the Buffalo Bills after not playing his last season at the University of Arkansas because of an injury.
