SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -- A Springdale man was arrested Friday (July 22) after he was accused of torturing, mutilating and sexually abusing a woman in May 2015.

Brian Post, 41, was arrested on charges of rape, attempted capital murder and kidnapping, according Benton County Detention Center records.

Police found the victim partially unclothed on a bed, lying in a pool of her own blood, according to the probable cause affidavit. The document states she was unconscious and the back of one of her legs appeared to be cut from her waist to her knee, down to the bone.

The victim, who was acquainted with Post before the attack, was found by her mother, after she grew suspicious when her daughter didn't return several of her phone calls. The woman checked her daughter's home on May 19, 2015, which is when she found her.

Police met with the victim July 20, 2016. She told investigators she had previously not disclosed information about the attack because she was afraid Post would retaliate against her by hurting her dogs or close friends and family, the document states. She said Post had regularly threatened her and her dogs, which she considered her "babies," during the course of their relationship.

She told police she drank a seemingly drugged sports drink that was in her refrigerator on May 17, and then fell unconscious, according to the affidavit. When she woke up, she said she felt groggy and had a difficult time walking. Later she said she saw Post was in her home with her and she fell in and out of consciousness during the next several hours, but reported what she remembered about the attack, the affidavit states.

She said Post dragged her to the bedroom, where he proceeded to rape her for hours, the document states. The victim said she believes the attack continued for a full day. There were a few points when Post left, once to do a service call for his work as a plumber, according to the affidavit.

During the attack, Post reportedly asked the victim if she could hear her "babies" and told her he would cut the dogs' throats in front of her if she didn't do as he asked, the affidavit states.

The woman said one of the last things she remembers before waking up in a hospital was Post cutting down the back of her leg, according to the documents.

When the victim was found, she was airlifted to a hospital and since then has had to have numerous reconstructive surgeries and skin grafts.

Post is being held at the Benton County Detention Center on $1 million bond.
