UAPD Warns About Trespassing At Razorback Stadium For “Pokemon Go” Characters

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- The University of Arkansas Police Department is warning "Pokemon Go" mobile app gamers about trespassing at Razorback Stadium for rare Pokemon characters that can be found at that location.

Police department spokesman Gary Crain said  game designers put rare characters at the stadium, but the venue is not open to the public outside of football events.

"[Gamers] cannot go in restricted areas, even though there may be a possibility of catching one of those characters there," Crain said.

Officers have been speaking with gamers who have been around the stadium while it is closed.

"[Officers] contact [users] and tell them they can’t enter that stadium to look for the characters they thought might be in there," Crain said. "They should not be in there. So, ultimately it could lead to someone’s arrest."

Crain said university police reached out to the game designers to see if they could restrict characters from appearing in the stadium when it is not being used.

"One of our officers, who may or may not play the game, sent them an email and asked them to not put characters in the football stadium because it is restricted access," Crain said.

UAPD has not made any arrests yet for trespassing at the stadium, but Crain said they would consider it if a "Pokemon Go" player was caught inside the facility.
