Hogs Adapting To Shuffling Offensive Line

New offensive line coach preaching versatility on Razorbacks’ front

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) - When Kurt Anderson was hired as the Arkansas offensive line coach, most expected the former Buffalo Bills assistant to bring a NFL flare to the Razorbacks.

That flare has come in the form of versatility.

Anderson isn't molding the Hogs' offensive linemen for a certain position. Instead, he's preparing his entire unit to play every position on the line in hopes that gets the five best players on the field at a given time.

"You've got to be a guy of versatility," Arkansas junior Jake Raulerson said. "That's what I learned at a very young age, you've got to be versatile because that makes you more valuable in any setting that you're in. High school, college or in the NFL. They like guys they can move around and they can play many different positions."

Raulerson transferred to Arkansas after playing center for two seasons at Texas. Through the first two weeks of fall camp, Raulerson has played every spot of the offensive line and coaches have praised his efforts at the right tackle spot.

There are still question marks of who is going to play where when the season opener rolls around for Arkansas so that unit is just preparing like they're all going to be all five spots.

"He really wants us to know every position on the field just in case that happened," Arkansas redshirt freshman Jalen Merrick said. "He always says in case somebody's shoes comes off, one of those things, just want you to be ready at all times."
