Bicyclist Hospitalized After Being Hit By Car In Fort Smith

FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A bicyclist is injured after being hit by a car in Fort Smith early Thursday morning (Aug. 18), according to Sergeant John Classen with Fort Smith Police.

Classen said the accident happened near the intersection of Wheeler and Fresno around 5:15 a.m.

Someone passing by noticed the man on the ground injured and called police. When they arrived on scene, they spoke with the bicyclist who was complaining of pain. He was then taken by ambulance to Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith, where he’s currently undergoing treatment for his injuries. Classen said the man’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are now investigating what happened. The bicyclist was unable to provide a description of the vehicle that hit him, according to Classen.
