VAN BUREN (KFSM)—When Destiny Potter heard about the “Little Free Pantry” in Fayetteville, she wanted to start one in her own community.

Potter set hers up in her yard on 522 South 7th St. on Saturday (August 20), and said so far it’s been a great success.

People have taken what they need, while others have come by and dropped off items, restocking the Little Free Pantry and given cards with monetary donations.

She said was inspired to put Little Free Pantry in her yard by a woman in Fayetteville who started one there. There are now at least ten in Northwest Arkansas, but Potter thought her neighborhood could really use one too.

“My goal has already been reached,” Potter said. “My goal was to help one person in need, and it’s already helped many, many families, and so I feel like I’ve already done that. The rest is left to the community.”

If you’d like to donate, Potter said they’re collecting any non-perishable food items you would feed your family. You can either put them in the pantry if there’s room, or leave a box on the porch.
