Standing Desks Help Children Lower BMIs

Children who use standing desks in the classroom are more likely to be at a healthy weight compared to children who sit at traditional desks during the school day.

Texas researchers followed about 200 third and fourth grade students, and they found those who stood for both years averaged a three percent decrease in their body mass index, compared to those who sat.

The kids who sat at traditional desks during those two years recorded about a two percent increase in BMI.
