Head Coach: Ricky May, 2nd season at Waldron
2015 Record: 0-10
Returning Offensive Starters: 8
Returning Defensive Starters: 6
WALDRON (KFSM)- Waldron has not won a game since 2011, but this fall they are prepared to break that losing streak.
Ricky May became the head coach of Waldron last season and has brought a refreshing attitude back to the program. The Bulldogs have had a revolving door of coaches, May is the third coach in less than three years. When he took over last spring, he wanted to try something new that he thought hadn't been tried before.
"When we came in we just wanted to be positive," said May. "We felt like that was something that maybe hadn't been tried in the past and so far it's worked well for us. Our first goal is to go 1-0 then once we go 1-0 we are going to try to go 2-0 and so on and so on and we feel like if we get the first one anything is possible."
The Bulldogs roster bolsters 14 total returning starters on both sides of the ball, most of which are seniors. The benefit of having a big group of returners that are in the second year of the system will greatly help Waldron on their goal to winning at the least one game.
"I think that once we get that monkey off our back," said senior Austyn Wilson. "And we go 1-0 in the beginning of the season it will open up our eyes and we'll really be able to see what we are made of."
Waldron's season opener will be at Mansfield on September 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
