FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- A festival celebrating the originality of the Ozarks kicks off Thursday (Aug. 25) in Fayetteville. This four day event showcases plenty of local music, food and art. The Fayetteville Roots Festival will take place in the Fayetteville Town Center, and all around the square as well.

The four day festival will hold musical performances at George's Majestic Lounge and Kingfish around Dickson Street. There will also be performances at the Fayetteville Public Library and the Farmer's Market.

But it's not just about the music, food is also a main component of this festival. There will be tastings, farming classes, cooking performances and a local  chef cook-off at the farmer's market on Saturday morning.

"The local food element to this programming is incredible, so we've partnered with so many local restaurants, farms and ranches and the farmer's market. So almost ninety percent of the food is going to be locally sourced throughout the weekend. There's local Brewers, local cider makers, local wine, local bourbon and spirits from Little Rock. So local is definitely a big part of the theme," said Jerrmy Gawthrop, Co-Producer.

Organizers said about half of the events happening on the square during the Fayetteville Roots Festival are free, although tickets to the majority of the music events are sold out. Here's a list of events happening.
