FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Students at Butterfield Trail Elementary got the chance to meet United States Olympic athletes Friday (Aug. 26).

U.S. Olympians and Razorbacks Lexi Weeks and Sandi Morris met with the children following their return from the Rio Olympics.

Weeks and Morris were both pole vaulters for the U.S. track and field team.

"To be an Olympian is the greatest honor I could ever imagine," Weeks said.

Their message to the students was to dream big.

"When I was this age, I never thought of one day being an Olympian," Weeks said.

Morris won a silver medal that each student was able to hold and touch.

"To walk in front of these kids and have a physical object, a silver medal for them to touch and hold, I think that will help them realize they have a chance," Morris said.

Both athletes said they want students to know that they have the potential to achieve anything they put their minds to.

"I just want to tell kids that dreams really do come true," Weeks said.

Morris said the children left on impression on them too.

"One kid was in tears telling me I was his inspiration. It made me cry. I started to tear up," she said.
