"There's nothing like it," fan, Larry Lane said. "College is a different thing, pro [football] is different, but high school football is great. It's really my favorite. I'd rather go to high school games than pro or college games."
To start the season, rivals, Muldrow and Vian faced off for a big game.
"It's great," fan, Tyler Miller said. "The school system here does a really good job, the coaching staff, all the volunteers, and sponsors. It's a really great system over here, and I enjoy it."
Students prepared for the big game with a pep rally.
"I am pumped," student, Lauryn Gaines said. "We had the best pep rally ever. We were having fun at school. Our principal had us all standing up at the pep rally, so we're ready to win!"
Fans are excited for the first Friday night of football season in Oklahoma, but they say their favorite part is the rivalry.
"I'm excited," Miller said. "It's football season. It's the best time of the year. It's fall, the weather is great right now. There's gonna be good competition going, yelling, so I'm just going to have a good time tonight."
Fans say nothing compares to hometown football.
"My dad and I, we love football, and we couldn't wait until this game," fan, Bryson Elbon said.
Some Arkansas high schools will kick off their season starting Tuesday (Aug. 30).
