SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -- Lanterne Rouge Fondo took place on Saturday (Aug. 27) and was the first event of its kind.
The 20 and 40 mile bike rides were throughout the Razorback Greenway with both routes starting and ending on Spring Street in downtown Springdale. The 20 mile bike route is geared toward beginners and the longer route consists of a few challenging hills for more seasoned riders.
Phat Tire was a sponsor for the event that was there to help riders prepare their bikes before the ride and offer their support.
"This is awesome, particularly this ride because they get to incorporate the Razorback Greenway and we get an opportunity to exercise and have fun at the same time and enjoy beautiful northwest Arkansas," local cyclist David Penny said.
Cyclist from all over the state went to the event to celebrate and challenge each other. They said they hope that this event takes place again in the future.
