BENTONVILLE (KFSM) - The grumblings around the state of Arkansas have been the same this year as they have been in years past. Like they where when Springdale and Rogers built a second high school.

Those grumblings expect Bentonville's success rate to drop due to the addition of Bentonville West. Those grumblings aren't sitting well with the Tigers.

"Our guys are kind of feeding off of that," Bentonville coach Jody Grant said. "A lot of people believe that and that's fine. We're going to let them think that and just go out and do what we do and see what happens."

What has happened in recent history is the Tigers win. Bentonville has won four 7A championships and seven 7A-West titles in the past eight season. Last year, though, broke a seven year streak of winning a league title and a six year run of reaching the finals.

"People think that we're going to be like Rogers and Springdale and how they kind of deteriorated and we're trying to keep this Bentonville thing going," Bentonville senior Hadley Gregg said.

"We just put our heads down and not focus on other people," Bentonville senior Nick Jaco said. "This is still Bentonville. We're still the Tigers. We still work hard. We still take names. You know what I'm saying. I don't pay attention to any other teams."

Bentonville is still expected to be among the state's best in 2016 as they kick off the season Friday night against Kansas City Rockhurst.
