ALMA (KFSM) - Expectations might not have been high from those around the state over the past two years as Alma competed in 6A. Those expectations are now sky high as the Airedales make the move back to 5A.

Alma reached the 6A quarterfinals in each of the past two seasons and now looks to regain their perch in the 5A-West behind returning starting quarterback Noah Dotson.

The senior threw for more than 2,100 yards and 14 scores last season while adding 578 yards rushing and three more touchdowns on the ground. Dotson, 6-foot-0, 230 pounds) will benefit from having four of his five offensive linemen back as well.

"You love to have your quarterback back," Alma coach Doug Loughridge said. "We have Noah Dotson who's a returning 6A All-State player. Just to have the experience he has, not only with him but to have four out of five offensive linemen, that's a big key."

The Airedales are looking for their sixth straight win over rival Van Buren as they kickoff the season on Aug. 30.

"All we've got to do is work hard," Dotson said. "That's all these coaches are wanting from us. Just work hard and push ourselves everyday and we're all looking forward to it."
