GREENWOOD (KFSM)- Despite being the smallest school in the Class 6A Greenwood was able to remain undefeated in the regular season last year (10-0). And the Bulldogs went on to win two more games before falling short of another state title to add to their long list. Now, with their move over to the 6A-West, head coach Rick Jones and his team aren't intimidated by the move, they are just ready to get another state championship.

Like every year, Jones and the Bulldogs have set up a chronological, three goal system.

"Well we have three goals going into every year," said Jones. "First goal is to win the first game, which is what we are going to try to do on Friday night. Second goal is to win the conference and third goal is to win a state championship."

The Bulldogs have an arsenal of returning talent this fall. Greenwood has 10 total returning starters on both sides of the ball, including their two starting quarterbacks. Senior QB Luke Hales and junior QB Connor Noland will be splitting snaps again in 2016. Hales completed 138 of 204 passes for 2,175 yards and 19 touchdowns last season. Noland completed 73 of 107 passes for 872 yards and nine TD's last fall.  Giving the Bulldogs an unpredictable when it comes to planning against them on offense.

"We set three goals," said Hales. "The first goal is we want to win the first game, we want to win the conference, and we want to win the state championship they go in order. All of our offseason and all of our time in August has been spent on that first game. It's obviously not do or die, but it's real important for us to get off on a good foot."

Greenwood will kickoff their season on September 2nd against Northside at 7:00 p.m.
