FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) —  The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to a man trapped in a trench Wednesday (Aug. 31) after it collapsed on him.

The trench collapsed near the intersection of Persimmon Drive and 54th Street just after 4 p.m. in the area of a subdivision construction project.

The man was part of the construction crew and was taken to the hospital after he was pulled from the trench, according to Battalion Chief Mauro Campos. The man had been as deep as eight feet in the ground, Campos said.

In a comment on the 5NEWS Facebook page, a woman who writes she is the worker’s wife stated he is on his way to recovery.
