FORT SMITH (KFSM) — An Arkansas State Police captain with Troop H who was arrested earlier this week on a loitering charge resigned Friday (Sept. 2), according to ASP.

Capt. Bryan Davis submitted a letter of resignation that stated: “Please accept this as my letter of resignation from the Arkansas State Police to be effective immediately.”

Colonel Bill Bryant, Director of ASP, released the follow statement about Davis’ arrest:

“I am disappointed by the alleged incident that has led to this resignation. However, I believe it is of the utmost importance that we, as law enforcement officers, represent ourselves in an honorable and professional manner, and exhibit higher standards, both in our private lives and in our public duties, exceeding the principles and expectations of others.”

On Thursday, the Sebastian County prosecutor filed a misdemeanor charge of loitering for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity against Davis. Davis was arrested Tuesday.
