ROGERS (KFSM) -- People in our area were trying to soak up the sun at their local pools as many of them closed for the summer Monday (September 5).

All day long, the pool at the Rogers Aquatic Center was at maximum capacity and they were not letting anyone else in until 20 went out.

Everyone inside enjoyed their day off but most were sad to know this will be their last pool day until 2017.

"I'm sad summer is over because in the winter time you can't go swimming and I think it's sad because a lot of people love summer and swimming,” said Ivy White.

And parents agree that it's sad to see summer go.

"We're excited they get to come here and play. It's really cheap entertainment and it's fun...No more swimming for the year, that's for sure,” said Michael Negent.

Aquatics manager Leanne Jacobson said even with all the rain we've had this summer they have had a great season.

"It's bittersweet, I'm going to miss all my lifeguards and staff but you know everyone is coming in to use their splash pass. The last day of the season, the last hoorah and it's a beautiful day here,” said Jacobson.

Jacobson said they will be selling their splash passes again for the 2017 season.

They will have a sale on Cyber Monday and then two weeks before they open, the passes will be half price.

On September 10th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. the pool is letting people bring their dogs to play in the water for a good cause. All proceeds will benefit the Rogers Animal Shelter. It’s $10 for the first dog and $5 for each additional dog.
