BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) -- The FBI and IRS are investigating a former Benton County employee after finding irregularities in her administration of county funds, according to the Benton County judge's office.
The county comptroller provided the FBI and IRS with county records late Tuesday (Sept. 6) after the agencies contacted her office about the irregularities, the judge's office said.
Agents returned Wednesday to interview employee Connie Guild, whose employment with the county was then terminated, according to the judge's office.
Benton County Judge Robert Clinard says he is disappointed.
“There are people who do the wrong thing a lot of times and they figure out way to evade the system. So I’m extremely sad for the person and the county tax payers," said Clinard.
The county is cooperating with the FBI and IRS investigation.
