More than 3 million children will play soccer this year - that`s nearly 90% more since 1990.

In Arkansas, 25 thousand kids are signed up to play the sport this year.

With that, comes a rise in injuries especially concussions.

Experts at nationwide children`s hospital in Ohio found head injuries went up nearly 16 hundred percent in soccer players ages seven to 17.

That was over a 25 year study period.

Researchers say an increase in awareness about these injuries perhaps leads to more people getting treated for them which lead to higher numbers.

The study also finds the rate of all soccer-related injuries from sprains to broken bones more than doubled.
