Preliminary Report: U Of A Enrollment Tops 27,000 Students, Campus Diversity Increases

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — The University of Arkansas announced they had another record-breaking enrollment year, according to a preliminary evaluation on Sept. 6.

During the “11th Day” snapshot on Sept. 6, University of Arkansas enrollment was reported at 27,194, according to a press release. The figures from the 11th Day snapshot were sent to the Arkansas Department of Education.Official numbers won’t be available until mid-October.

The university’s growth is slowing down, raising only 1.6 percent for the 2015-16 school year. Since 2011, the university has grown 17.2 percent.

Preliminary figures showed that 19.1 percent of students, and 20 percent of freshmen, identified as a “minority,” which is an increase over previous years.

For the fourth year in a row, women outnumber men on campus, as 52 percent of students are female.

About 56 percent of U of A students come from within the state, the report states. Roughly 38 percent of students come from out of state, and 5 percent are international students.
