Arkansas Crushes Texas State, Improves to 3-0

Big First Half Leads Razorbacks To Win

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)–Arkansas struck early and often en route to a 42-3 blowout of Texas State. The Razorbacks improved to 3-0 this season.

The Razorbacks marched down the field on their first possession, a 10 play, 82 yard drive ending in a Keon Hatcher touchdown reception. The senior continue his big first quarter on the next drive, catching a 74 yard pass from Austin Allen that was initially ruled a touchdown. Even though the play was overturned, Kody Walker finished the drive for a 14-0 lead.

Hatcher posted 96 yards on three catches in the first quarter, and the Hogs led by two scores after a quarter. To add insult to injury, Ryan Pulley recorded his first career pick-six early in the second quarter to put Arkansas up by 3 scores.

Allen added to his solid game with a TD pass to Jeremy Sprinkle, increasing the lead to 28-0. Right before halftime, Allen took the Razorbacks on an 8 play, 93 yard drive in less than two minutes and Rawleigh Williams punched in to a touchdown. At half, Arkansas held a 35-0 lead, having surrendered just 25 yards of offense and one first down.

Williams added another touchdown in the third quarter. Referees called for a 10 minute fourth quarter because of weather in the area. Ty Storey and some of the backups got valuable time in the final quarter as well.

Austin Allen completed 16 of 21 passes for 241 yards and 2 TDs and Williams recorded 121 yards rushing, his second straight week over 100 yards.

Arkansas travels to Arlington for the Southwest Classic next Saturday at 8pm. The Razorbacks open SEC play against Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium.
