CAVE SPRINGS (KFSM) -- The city of Cave Springs will be audited after recent tensions between Mayor Travis Lee and Treasurer Kim Hutcheson.
City councilor Jay Finch said a lawyer from the Arkansas Municipal League was brought in during a meeting Thursday (Sept. 15).
All of this was brought to a head after a dust up between Lee and Hutcheson, during which Lee barred Hutcheson from City Hall. She eventually returned to work.
The attorney determined Lee had not been allowed to ban Hutcheson from her office.
Lee said she created a hostile work environment toward several employees at city hall, which prompted him to take action. 5NEWS reached out to Hutcheson at her office Monday (Sept. 19), but she declined to comment.
Lee also said he'd heard rumors that she had mismanaged city funds, but those reports were false. It's unclear when the audit will begin, or who will conduct it, said Finch.
"The world runs on politics," Finch said. "But, that kind of negative politics, that 'I'm going to show you, you can't do that' politics kind of brought us to a stop, and I hope we get it fixed soon."
