SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -- Springdale is mourning the loss of one of their own after a football player died in a car accident Saturday (Sept. 24) night.

Senior wide-receiver Kyler Williams passed away in a one-car accident on Hwy 21 just after 9:30 p.m.

Teammates, friends, coaches, teachers and staff gathered at Bulldog Stadium earlier this evening.

Kyler was described as a leader on and off of the football field and someone who will be missed not just by Springdale High School, but all of Northwest Arkansas.

Isaiah Nichols said the brotherhood Kyler had with all the players on the team was amazing. Nichols said he was a friend to everyone.

“I can`t say that there`s very many people in my life that has affected me like he has...he`s just an amazing guy...if I could bring him back I would and I just miss him so much, I love him and he`s a person that will be on my mind for the rest of my life,” Nichols said.

Fellow teammate Jayden Minchew said something he admired about Kyler was how he took every challenge head on and wasn`t scared of anything.

“I have a lot of memories with him and I have a lot of gifts from him and whenever you see those you realize that you can`t have those moments with him anymore...it`s the toughest thing in the world,”  Minchew said.

Coach Zak Clark described Kyler as someone who never had a bad day.

Clark remembered the last thing they said to each other at Friday’s homecoming game.

“It was third down and his last play...Kyler caught a sixty-eight yard touchdown pass and he came off the field and kind of hugged me and we said some things, certainly...I love you, I love you coach,” Clark said.

The school will be providing counselors for students tomorrow. A Go-Fund-Me page has been setup to help Kyler’s family with funeral arrangements.
