VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A picture of  San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s jersey being taped to a Virginia Beach restaurant’s floor is causing a stir online.

Virginia Beach resident James Perry said he walked into Krossroads Rock and Country Bar in the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center Thursday and saw the jersey at the front entrance.

“What went through my mind was like 'Wow, is this real or is it a joke?' How would you feel if someone taped a police officer’s uniform down?" Perry asked.

Saturday, he took to social media posting this status:

Perry’s post was shared more than 3,000 times in 24 hours.

He's asking people to boycott the bar.

But some customers are standing by the Krossroads.

“I was not offended by that," Carol Bevilacqua said. "I think we live in a free country. I think people are allowed to do what they want.”

The general manager of the bar told News 3 taping the jersey down was about sportsmanship and Kaepernick's disrespect of the flag - not race.

Whatever the reason, Perry says the bar has now lost a longtime customer.

The bar has the same right to protest kapernick’s actions by doing this as kapernick has to do his protests (which is likely just for attention since he has been benched because he didn’t protest as long as he was the starting Q back

I love that the bar did this. I would have used it to wipe my feet. Hopefully they will put another one down. What I am “offended” by is Kapernick disrespecting the flag, what I am “offended” by is the bar removing the jersey because of one customer. We need to stop pulling back what we believe in just to suit others. I also LOVE Never Go Full Liberal’s comment below. LOL!
