Black Moon on Friday Night? What?

When two New Moons happen in one month; it’s called a Black Moon.

A New Moon occurs when the Moon is positioned between the Earth and the Sun and is not visible from Earth. It’s one of the nights referred to as no-moon and it’s usually the best type of night for seeing meteors or even star photography. Friday night and Saturday will be no exception with plenty of clear skies in our area.

Both a Blue Moon and a Black Moon occur every 32 months or every 2.7 years.

The weather will be great for star gazing this weekend with lows in the 50s and mostly clear skies.
